Geocache Description:

This is a combined letterbox and puzzle. Hence, the name puzzlebox.

If you like the classic letterbox style directions, then skip the puzzle below and start with the letterbox directions in blue.

If you like to solve a field puzzle that will lead you to a specific point in the below directions, then solve the field puzzle below in red. Once you get to the field puzzle coordinate you will have to follow the rest of the letterbox directions to find the cache.

Little Leon has been begging to go to Wilson Park, and sweet Thelma Lou graciously offered to take him.  While she was pushing Leon on the swing a bright idea occurred to her.  She has been tortured by all of the higher math puzzles recently published and in retaliation she decided to make a field puzzle. After creating the puzzle she told Leon, "Why not add some more amusement to our day by creating a puzzlebox?"  Thelma Lou created the puzzle, and Leon provided the directions for the letterbox. They decided that this is not just going to be a park and grab.  A little physical exertion is going to be required, so you can walk, run, jog, or bike your way to complete this puzzlebox.  Your round trip will be about .75 miles. There is "no math allowed" for this letterbox...er...field puzzle...er...puzzlebox!!!

LETTERBOX DIRECTIONS

After eating some of his peanut butter and jelly sandwich and offering it to Thelma Lou who promptly replied, "No, thank you, Leon," they began their walk in the park.  See if you can follow their path through the park and find the letterbox they hid.  The coordinates are the starting point for this letterbox.

At the starting point they headed on the path toward the tennis courts.  They passed the courts on their right, and the playground on their left.  They meandered down the path and turned left at the "Y" (355').

They quickly approached another turn in the path to the left (85').

Leon started skipping past the shelter on his right and the basketball courts on his left.  Thelma Lou called to him to slow down and caught up with him at shelter #3 which was on her left.

Leon and Thelma Lou continued onward past shelter #4 on their left.  Their jaunt had them following the path that turned left (660') and soon approached the park announcement board on their left (75').  They continued forward on the path.

They came to the entrance of the swimming pool on their left. Jumping up and down with excitement, Leon begged Thelma Lou to let him go swimming.  She replied that now was not the time since they were in the middle of an important mission.  After their work was done, they could come back for a swim.  Satisfied with her answer, Leon obediently continued down the trail and past the lamppost

(FIELD PUZZLE WAYPOINT)

They turned left (236')  onto the concrete path which soon became an asphalt path again.

With the pool directly behind them, they stopped and scanned the area.  Where would be a good place to put a small letterbox?  Hmmm... They noticed a small wooded area across the field. They decided to investigate it.

Once they were in front of the wooded area, they used some common sense to enter the little woods at the easiest opening. The coordinates for the final location can be found in the additional waypoints and are posted here as well. N 39° 39.309' W 84° 15.082'

Now they had to decide where to place this letterbox.  Thelma Lou let Leon choose the hiding spot.  Where do you think a 3-4 year old would place it?  Use some geosense and think like a little child, and you'll find it!  Oh, and Leon deposited a letterbox stamp in the cache with the anticipation of his upcoming time at the pool!

The cache will be about 10' inside the wooded area.
