Many geocachers - both male and female - are also hockey fans. This cache has been placed to link those two sports.
You may be surprised to learn that the term "hat trick" originated with the sport of Cricket in 1858. It did not become popular in North America until the mid-1940's in the National Hockey League. Wayne Gretzky holds the NHL record for the most hat tricks in a career with 52. A "Natural Hat Trick" is when a player scores 3 consecutive goals uninterrupted by any other player scoring for either team. Less familiar is the term "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" where a player scores a goal, gets an assist, and gets into a fight all in the same game.
Upon completion of this cache it will be apparent that the link between this cache and the sport of hockey is more than there being 3 stages to this multi.
