A geocaching event on June 15th, 2013 to promote geocaching to anyone who is interested in learning more about or participating in the fun hobby of Geocaching.
On June 22nd the Central Illinois Geocaching Association (CIGA) & Major_Boothroyd (Jason Lee from Decatur) will be hosting geocaching events for the first time at Fletcher Park...(GC4AMJH & GC4AQTT). To help promote geocaching in the Mt. Zion / Long Creek area.
We would like to hold a basic geocaching 101 workshop that is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about what is geocaching. Since this event page will only be seen by current geocachers, we are asking if you know someone that may enjoy geocaching please tell them about this event and invite them on this day. It may be a co worker, someone you attend church with or maybe just a neighbor...whomever it is, please forward the details of this event to them so that they can attend. The event is open to anyone and everyone to learn more about geocaching.
We will place 3 temporary caches around the Mt. Zion, Illinois library property for people to find. For all those who attend this event, we will also invite them to attend the geocaching event and picnic the following weekend of June 22nd.
So we are looking for geocachers to volunteer their time from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. to assist those friends / families and to give them the basics on finding geocaches using their smart phones and/or a hand held gps. Be sure to bring your gps with you and we can load the 3 waypoints in it for you.
I will work with the library to help promote this event in the Mt. Zion / Long Creek area....and you ...the geocacher...can spread the word where you live to anyone who you may think would be interested and send them to Mt. Zion Library on June 15th at 10 a.m.
Please post a "Will Attend" if you are able to help out with this event and also post if you know someone who may be attending so we can get an idea on how many non-geocachers will be attending. Thank You.
