Geocache Description:

Une multi-cache pour vous faire connaître deux des trois lavoirs de Valence d'Agen.
(Nous avons préféré vous faire découvrir séparément le troisième : le lavoir Saint-Bernard, vu sa situation éloignée sur le terrain.)

Les trois lavoirs se situent dans le quartier bas de la ville, là où coulaient les sources pures. Les deux plus "monumentaux" (Del Théron et Saint-Bernard) sont inscrits à l'inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques depuis 1977.

Garez vous sur l'allée des Fontaines toute proche. La position donnée vous guidera jusqu'au premier lavoir de votre quête : le lavoir du "Pé de Gleize", datant du XIXe siècle. C'est le plus mystérieux des trois lavoirs, on en retrouve rarement trace dans les archives. Il est bâti sur un format plus traditionnel, de forme rectangulaire. Son emplacement en fait un site agréable.
A ce premier lavoir, vous devrez trouver les coordonnées du trésor qui vous attend au deuxième lavoir de la multi-cache : le lavoir del Théron.

Le lavoir del Théron est le plus ancien des lavoirs de la ville, remarquable par sa toiture circulaire. Il est difficile de donner la date précise de construction, mais elle doit se situer à la fin du XVIIIe siècle. Dès 1661, la fontaine fit l'objet de réparations de la part des consuls et une pierre gravée de leurs noms et des armoiries du seigneur marquis de Valence fut érigée au-dessus de la fontaine (pierre aujourd'hui disparue).
En 1880, le mauvais état du lavoir nécessita des réparations, le Conseil Municipal de l'époque décida notamment qu'il devait être carrelé plutôt que cimenté à cause de la gelée. En 1906, la toiture fut refaite. Enfin, la dernière restauration date de juillet 2003.

Si vous êtes à Valence d'Agen un mardi matin et que vous appréciez l'ambiance chaleureuse des marchés d'antan, ne manquez surtout pas celui-ci, il vous ravira sans aucun doute par sa richesse, sa variété et sa convivialité ! L'après-midi, vous pourrez visiter les lavoirs en tout quiétude ... ou du moins, beaucoup plus tranquillement.

S'il vous plaît, replacez tout comme vous l'avez trouvé et veillez à ne pas attirer l'attention des nombreux moldus qui peuvent fréquenter les lieux.

La réception satellite est très médiocre entre les murs : afin de faciliter vos recherches et éviter de paraître trop étrange en cherchant trop longtemps, il vaut sûrement mieux prendre les indices. Merci pour vos efforts de discrétion et bonne découverte !

A multi-stage-cache to make you visit two of the three washhouses of Valence d'Agen.
(We prefer you to discover the third one - St. Bernard washhouse - separately, given its remote location on the site.)

The three washhouses are in the lower part of the city, where the pure springs used to flow. The two more "Monumental" (Del Theron and Saint Bernard) have been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments since 1977.

Park your car on the Allée des Fontaines nearby. The coordinates will guide you to the first washhouse of your quest: the washhouse of "Pé de Gleize", dating from the nineteenth century. It is the most mysterious of the three, hardly anything can be found about it in the archives. It is built on a more traditional format, of a rectangular shape. Its location makes it a pleasant site.
At this first washhouse, you will find the coordinates of the treasure that awaits you at the second washhouse of the multi-stage-cache: the washhouse del Theron.

The laundry del Theron is the oldest of the washhouses in the city, to be noted for its circular roof. It is difficult to give the exact date of construction, but it must be at the end of the eighteenth century. From 1661, the fountain was repaired by the consuls and a stone engraved with their names together with the Lord Marquis of Valence's coats of arms was built on top of the fountain (stone now disappeared).
In 1880, the poor condition of the washhouse necessitated repairs, the City Council of the times decided it should be tiled rather than cemented because of the frost. In 1906, the roof was redone. The last renovation was in July 2003.

If you are in Valence d'Agen on a Tuesday morning and you enjoy the warm atmosphere of yesteryear markets, you just mustn't miss this one: you will no doubt delight in its richness, variety and conviviality! In the afternoon, you can visit the washhouse undisturbed ... or at least, much more quietly.

Please replace the box as you found it and be careful not to attract the attention of the many muggles who can be there.
The satellite reception is very poor between the walls: to facilitate your search and avoid appearing too weird seeking too long, it is surely better to take the hint. Thank you for being stealthy! Enjoy!
