Geocache Description:

Pillar Falls is down in the Snake River Canyon, less than a mile upstream of the Perrine Bridge and is one of the stranger places in southern Idaho. Rock towers jut from the bed of the Snake river. They are spires with spacious, grassy summits. They force the river to twist and turn around them and prevent boats from going any higher upstream. There’s no waterfall at Pillar Falls; instead, it is a series of ledges and spires.

Please take note of updated terrain rating and the note below. The only way to access this cache now is by boat from Centennial Park or a very difficult hike from Shoshone Falls Park. If the next finder would please retrieve the cache and then let me know so we can arrange for an exchange I would be very grateful! Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Though their only a mile from Twin Falls, Pillar Falls is one of the less knows attractions and for good reason. There are only two ways to reach them. The classic way is by boat from Centennial Park. The other way is by foot down a rough, steep access road that drops into the canyon from Pole Line Road. The road drops more than 400 feet in a quarter mile. To get there, drive east on Pole Line Road and keep going east at the junction of Pole Line and Eastland Drive. Park at the top of the dirt road that drops into the canyon and start hiking from there; motor vehicles aren’t allowed on the access road. There are several homes in the area, so be respectful of private property. You will not be trespassing as long as you hike the road. This is an extremely difficult hike and the cache is hidden really well! You don’t need any special equipment other than hiking boots and plenty of water and about 2 hours for the hike there and back. During the summer months watch out for snakes! Please be careful on this! Try to bring some sort of a walking stick with you. It will not only help with the hike down but you can use it as a snake stick while searching for the cache. The cache is in an ammo can with the general assortment of goodies. Have fun and please be careful!
