We are having a special Geocoin created for this event which is displayed below! Our Granddaughter, Thundering Rocks, designed the reverse side of the coin.
The Event will be a modified Quest with some new caches as part of the Quest. There are 19 waypoints and 9 new caches located in town. You will have to find and record the password from all the waypoints and at least 5 of the 9 on the Passport to qualify for the coin. The reason for needing to find only 5 caches was to keep the terrain rating at 1.5.
There will also be a chance to draw for prizes and you can help if you bring an item which can be added to the collection.
We will have a GPX file available to find the waypoint locations to visit and new caches on the list. This will be available at approximately 9 AM the day of the Event.
You may want to consider bringing your bike as most of the locations can be reached by bike and parking could be limited at some locations.
We will publish a replacement to the Yachats In Lincoln County Oregon - GC2DMX6 at 1:00 PM the day of the Event which is based on a "Tour" format. The Scenic Yachats Tour takes you to the 9 caches in Yachats and then up the River and over the Cape for an additional 17 caches. The trip will take approximately 3-5 hours. The caches on the Tour list do not require any passes to obtain. For anyone who wants to collect a second Geocoin, we will remain at the Event site until the drive is completed.
A Brief Schedule:
- 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Check in, Fill out Event Passport, have some lunch.
- 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Drawing at the Event Site, Pick up Scenic Yachats Passport and GPX file.
- 2:30 PM - 7:00 PM Evaluate Scenic Yachats Passport for additional coin.
At the Event, one Geocoin per Family with the opportunity to earn additional coins on the "Scenic Yachats" tour.
