This is a magnetic nano; it is not on the dumpster nor in the parking lot, nor on/in an animal home. Nano=bring a pen! I've placed a well-camouflaged tool nearby to help replace the cache if you are having difficulties; it's easy enough to get but harder to put back. Please leave the tool where it won't get mowed or picked up by maintenance.
One wonders how this remnant is where it is...I pondered it for a while, looked up relevant information just in case my experience misled me...but this remains a curiosity. If you can figure it out, please tell me!
Wallace Heckman owned the land that is now Lowden State Park. Some of it was leased to Lorado Taft for his Eagle's Nest art colony, and the rest was sold to become a memorial to the recently deceased Governor Lowden. Northern Illinois University was granted the original Eagle's Nest land and remaining buildings to develop an outdoor education campus.
Park amenities include trailer and RV camping, bathroom and showers, drinking water, park stoves, picnic areas, trails, and a playground. The site is also home to the Eternal Indian statue, aka Blackhawk, dedicated in 1911 and weighing 243 tons.
This cache has been approved by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources; authority of the Park Superintendent.
1. Geocache is placed on Department managed property with permission.
2. Do not place the following items in the Geocache: Food items, inappropriate, offensive, or hazardous materials.
3. It is the visitors responsibility to orient themselves with policies and rules pertaining to this Department managed site.
