Darwin's first Power Trail! Or the Croker Crew Ramble or the Casuarina Coastal Reserve?
The Casuarina Coastal Reserve
This Reserve protects about 1500ha of coastal habitats between the estuaries of Rapid Creek and Buffalo Creek, in the Darwin area. It includes 8 km of sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and shady casuarina trees. Behind the dunes lie typical Top End coastal plant communities including patches of woodlands, monsoon forests, mangroves and paperbarks.
The suburb of Casuarina derives its name from the casuarina trees that grow along the nearby Casuarina Beach. Casuarina was the name used in the early 1960s for the proposed main business area in the northern suburbs.
Casuarina Free Beach is a 500n long section of Casuarina Beach between the main beach area and Sandy Creek where clothes are optional. Don't worry, the power trail doesn't detour along the beach! And there's no reason for the back ground paper appart from the fact that one of the girls loves the character Legolas! No room for swaps and don't forget to bring a pen!
