Geocache Description:

This is a difficult cache requiring an 8 mile round trip paddle and tracking of your course along a winding bayou so you can get back.    The water is flat but the cacher must be prepared for a long day with the potential for wind and current.

We placed the cache to commemorate finding the headwaters of the Lost River.

After being turned back by a downstream log jam, we made our way back to a side channel and followed it to the end.  Then mounted a short overland journey to reach the Lost River.   This cache is on land and very close to the River and will require exiting your boat.  It is about 300 feet overland from a side channel off The Cutoff or a  short walk from the beginning of the Lost River, if you happen to come up that way.  Look for a black wire attached to a nail in the wooden fence.  Don't worry the Lost River is really still very lost so it will be as much of an adventure as you want it to be.

Congratulations to BaytownBert, Mudfrog, CacheControl and T-Bone on being the FTF expedition for this cache.
