Back to the place of my childhood.
Back in the early 60's was a great time to grow up in Hawaii. Life was a lot simpler back then, no one worried about crime too much and people just got by on what they could afford and country living was awesome.
In the early 60's my mother was a teacher at Honomu school, so we used to live in the teacher's cottage. As a toddler I used to play in the community graveyard and eat the candy left on the headstones....Dad would laugh and say the dead don't care..By the time I was three, my family had moved to Hilo, but through pictures and stories, I can recall the days gone by.
Today the school and cottages are gone. The area is now a county park, and all that remains from what i can remember, is a Sausage tree and my old graveyard stomping grounds.
This cache is located in the bushes behind an old sausage tree, a large tree identified by the large hanging sausages on it's branches. There is a memorial showing the historic school. The cache is dedicated to the memories of my hometown. A quick cache to find on the way to Akaka Falls.
Please place the cache back exactly as you find it or better. CITO when possible and happy hunting! Aloha.
Congratulations to emeindl ...FTF Please read the notes for an update on this cache.
