This cache is less than 1km from the cairn at the top of Creag Dubh. We have tried to get to the top every year as a family, carrying and then walking with the children. The path is not very clear but our regular route starts behind the riding school and then bears left in the woods, climbing towards the first summit (An Tor) but then bearing left again towards the top of Creag Dubh itself. The path is not very clear in the lower sections.
This cache is hidden under a rock ledge. The location is protected from the wind and provides a reasonable base to stop for lunch either on the way to or coming back down from the cairn at the top of Creag Dubh. Even in August we have walked in a mixture of clear blue skys and driving rain. It takes us just under 4 hours from the road to the cairn at the top and back. This includes a lunch stop.
