Colorado's state nickname is the Centennial State. Colorado means “colored red”.

Denver lays claim to the invention of the cheeseburger. The trademark for the name Cheeseburger was awarded in 1935 to Louis Ballast.

Colorado is the only state in history, to turn down the Olympics. In 1976 the Winter Olympics were planned to be held in Denver. 62% of all state Voters chose at almost the last minute not to host the Olympics, because of the cost, pollution and population boom it would have on the State Of Colorado, and the City of Denver.

The United States federal government owns more than 1/3 of the land in Colorado!
Dove Creek is the "Pinto Bean" capital of the world.
The highest suspension bridge in the world is over the Royal Gorge near Canon City. The Royal Gorge Bridge spans the Arkansas River at a height of 1,053 feet.
Colorado has more microbreweries per capita than any other state.

The flag of Colorado consists of three equal sized horizontal stripes. The top and bottom stripe are blue and the middle is white. To the left side of the flag there is a yellow circle that is outlined with a red letter C.
The Blue stripes represent the skies over Colorado. The white symbolizes the snow in the mountains. The yellow stands for gold, and the red represents the soil of the land. The capital 'C' obviously stands for Colorado.
The flag was adopted on Mar. 31, 1964. Colorado is the 38th state of the union, gaining statehood on the 1st of August 1876.
The flag was designed by Andrew Carlisle Johnson in 1911.
