Garden of Honor
Although there are over 700 veterans buried in Monument Cemetery, the Board of Trustees decided in 1999 to establish a separate section of the cemetery for veteran burials. According to the cemetery flag plaques, there are veterans here who served in the Civil War, Cuba, World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf. Veterans buried in this Garden of Honor must have government-issued headstones, and all five branches of the service are present here including the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. This cache is placed with the permission of the Board of Trustees. There is room for swag and there is a NJ Scratch-off Lottery ticket for the FTF! Please follow the rules of the cemetery, which is closed from dusk to dawn. NO dogs are allowed! Please be considerate of graves and keep a respectful distance when burials are in progress.
