Rev Wilbert Awdry Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Geo-Myck: It's time to put this cache to bed. It's fine missing before and probably not the best I've ever put out so I will not be replacing this cache now it's gone. Thank you to every one that has come to visit this one over the years.

Geocache Description:

Here on Station Road we wonder if the Reverend Wilbert Vere Awdry ever visited the Wallingford Station. If so which of the Thomas the Tank Engine stories could it of sparked off ???

It is hard to imagine a story about steam trains lasting so long but children (as well as some grown ups) and trains go well together. In 1943 Rev W Awdry first told his stories to amuse his son Christopher who was suffering a bout of measles. His first book was published in 1945 entitled “The Three Railway Engines”. In 1972 Rev W Awdry stopped writing and his “The Railway Series” was 26 books long. It is nice that his son Christopher subsequently added more books to the series.

Please on your log name your favourite Train from the stories.

This is a small sample pot cache with a log and no pencil so please bring your own.

Well done to Megamax1200 for FTF
