Saginaw Forest is a field research area. The site is owned by the University of Michigan and managed by the School of Natural Resources and Environment. A caretaker lives on the land. You may walk past his cabin, however, public use of Saginaw Forest is encouraged. Rules for public access include:
- No parking in front of the access gate.
- Public use hours are from 6am to 6pm only; no camping on the site!
- No vehicles or bicycles are permitted on the site except those for approved research and teaching use.
- Dogs with owners are welcome to visit, but they must be on a leash.
- Dog owners must carry out all pet waste; please bring your own doggie bag to do so
- No cutting or collecting of plant material; no hunting or harming vertebrates.
Street parking is permitted on Westview Way, which is 400 feet west of the main entrance to Saginaw Forest. Be careful crossing Liberty. This is the closest legal place to park. Tip: On weekends, brave souls may want to park in the business park east of the forest, but do so at your own risk.
Small lock & lock with room for a few small items. Good luck!
