Geocache Description:

From NottHill 4, follow the path through the woods and the field until you reach the metal gate. DO NOT follow the track uphill, but TURN LEFT onto the smaller path with the yellow Winchcombe Way badge. After a short walk downhill, just before you reach another small metal gate, TURN RIGHT through the wider metal gate into the field.

This cache is named after an adventure I had up here a few years ago. I was up here at sunset and got out my low pennywhistle and began to play an old Irish tune called King of the Faeries. Unfortunately this tune seemed to have a magical effect on the cattle in the field – they got very excited and began to stampede around the perimeter of the field. My husband and I both legged it pretty swiftly.

You may or may not encounter cattle in the field, but don't worry, they should be fine as long as you don't play a whistle at them.

You will find a hawthorn tree in the field. The cache is now a camo'd bison tube hanging in the tree. This is a permissive path and the land manager requests that dogs be kept on leads.

Congratulations tarmacjohn, FTF!
