This is the second location of an old Roadside Picnic area between Manton and Cadillac. Beware of fast moving muggles. Easy PNG.
Way back before the Freeway's Rest Areas became the popular spot to stop and take a break and have a snack, families traveling around Northern Michigan used to take advantage of the many Roadside Picnic areas maintained by the State Highway Department (MDOT, now). There were two such picnic areas between Manton and Cadillac...just a picnic table and a trash barrel, but they were used extensively by folks having lunch during a Sunday drive. This was long before the many fast food restaurants that have taken over family picnics. This cache is located near where one of these Roadside Parks once offered respite to weary Moms and Dads.
