This cache is at the end of a favourite short walk of ours that we have always referred to as the seats, there used to be two seats, now only 1. It is a gentle climb through good forest roads, though there are lots of options to extend the walk and make it a bit more challenging.
Start at the official Blackhall forest car park at NO687948, refer to the information board in the carpark for details of the various paths through the forest. A map is advisable as this is a large forest with many paths and once in the woods one path looks much like another.
The forest road ends just short of the cache but you will see a path that leads to the seat that is close to the cache. When you go back to the forest road you have the option of returning by a different route by tuning left up the short slope, to a path that will take you to the top of Scolty hill. This path is quite steep in places and can get a bit boggy in wet weather, but the view from the top is worth the effort.
