És ben conegut a Catalunya el món casteller, però no gaire gent coneix el fet falconer.
Els Falcons [Wikipedia] són una manifestació gimnàstica-esportiva apareguda a Catalunya a inicis del segle XX, tenint com a referència els Sokol (falcó en txec), i que ha esdevingut tradicional al Penedès i mica en mica, s’ha estès a altres indrets.
A Vilafranca neix la colla falconera l’any 1959, la segona més antiga. Sota la gran influència castellera de la Vila, evoluciona la seva indumentària, les figures i la introducció de l’acompanyament musical de gralles i timbals.
És al 1991 quan s’hi alça un monument en el seu honor. La base del monument representa l’escut de la colla i la figura que s’hi alça enmig és l’escala. Aquesta figura és la més representativa ja que és comú a totes les colles falconeres (també anomenada capdil).
