It is one of the busiest seaside resorts of Tunisia and lies on the coast south of Cape Bon, 12 km southwest of Nabeul, 70 km southeast of Tunis and 90 km south of Sousse. It is known since the second half of the twentieth century for its extensive beaches along the Gulf of Hammamet, more recently, since the mid-1990s, the Yasmine Hammamet marina.
