Geocache Description:

This cache was hidden by the Geocaching 101 class given by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) as a class project.

The Occoneechee Speedway was one of the early NASCAR Tracks developed by Bill France. Last year the track area was turn into a Trail. The trails are a great walk and you can imagine what things were like with a race going on with the stands and the banks of the track still in place. There has been some work recently on restoring some buildings at the track.
