Mr. Fischer’s Geography class will be applying their newly acquired geocaching skills in pursuit of this and two other caches in the immediate vicinity of the school.
All of these are on the periphery of the school area on public property, but at busy school times, there could be a problem with muggle eyes watching, so please use stealth tactics when necessary. Please replace exactly as found. Parking at back of ball diamond while caching here.
The first three caches placed at Northwestern commemorate great teachers whom I was honoured to work alongside for many years.
Mr. Bill McGregor, who taught Science at Northwestern, passed away suddenly several years ago, in the final month of his teaching career. He was a quiet man who didn’t talk much about his life experiences, which included a tour of combat duty in WW2.
One day in the staffroom, we were discussing the TV movie from the previous night, “A Bridge Too Far,” and Bill admitted that he was among of the Allied paratroopers who fought in that battle to hold the Nijmegen Bridge. From that day on, Bill was one of my heroes.
