This cache is one in a series of "Tucked Away Treasures" inviting you to discover scenes of nature easily overlooked in the State College area. It is intended to be easy to find. The hint below is a giveaway.
Who would have thought that right in the heart of downtown State College would be two multi-purpose rain gardens--beautiful to behold--and designed to mitigate pollution, minimize flooding, and help counter greenhouse gas production.
The plant and soil structures of the rain gardens mitigate pollution by intercepting storm water runoff that normally flows untreated into local streams.
A display just steps away from the intersection of Beaver Avenue and Allen Street tells more about these amazing rain gardens. Sit and relax on the bench nearest the rain garden on the library side of the street to take in the view of the rain gardens and stealthily find the cache. The bench you want has a plaque on it honoring Sid & Helen Friedman.
You're looking for a camouflaged magnetic key holder. You might need to stretch and walk around the back of the bench for a better view. I've set the difficulty rating at 2.5 because of the high muggle area. Please bring a pen or pencil and be super stealthy. Please re-hide the cache exactly where you found it to keep it hidden from pedestrians walking by.
Though my husband, JBT, knows nothing about this cache, I have asked him to be disqualified from the FTF lest anyone think he had advance knowledge.
Congratulations to mattressgnome for the FTF!!
