Geocache Description:

Another one of Little B's caches placed by the Pahoa Skatepark in the Pahoa Neighborhood Facilities.

The skatepark in Pahoa is one of three skateparks on the island. When we placed a cache at the Waimea park, we noticed a skatepark there and upon research to include information we found that a skatepark was also in Pahoa. While running around caching, we went to go take a look and realised it was at the Pahoa Neighborhood Facilities which also has a community center and next to the Pahoa Community Aquatic Center swimming pool. Right next to the skatepark is also a small little playground for the keiki to play and above it is a baseball field.

The skatepark started in 2009 with the King of the Vert contest to open the park. Since that time it has been a nice addition to provide a place for our skaters to work their tricks and show some of the magic that they do on their boards and skates.

Controversy has always followed skateparks, but if it gives some of our kids a place to be, play, and enjoy some outdoor activity, its a great addition to the community.

When we got here, Little B immediately wanted to place a cache here and was excited about watching some of the skaters that were there. He states that when he gets older (maybe 9 or 10 year old) then he will go there and skate.

So stop on by and find the cache. Its a bigger pill bottle than some of his others, but hopefully it can stay hidden tucked away in this little section just outside of the skatepark. While you are there, if there are skaters, stop by and admire the skills they have, because quite frankly it takes a lot of talent and guts to fly like they do and it can be impressive! Have fun and remember to use stealth in this high muggle area as well as hidding it back again so as not to expose it to theft or destruction.

One last thing to note is that the skatepark is only open from 7am-7pm daily and it would be best to cache during those hours. the facilities may be open longer than that (as the cache is just outside of the stakepark but inside the facilities gate), but to be safe it's best to stick to those hours.
