Geocache Description:

Easy cache along the Rooster Laid A Golden Egg ( RLAGE) Geotrail.  Find the cackle fruit!  BYOP and tweezers.  May not be winter friendly!

Rooster Laid A Golden Egg? What the? Ohhh-its a geotrail! As we all know, Roosters don’t lay eggs!!

But we are not dealing with an ordinary Rooster here. The Rooster we are dealing with here is a female geocacher, better known as part of the caching team of the Rockton Raiders. Some say she is the better half of the team, some would probably differ with that opinion!! We probably can’t settle that burning question here and now, but we do know that she is a part of the inner circle of the clan, a particularly rowdy, fun loving bunch of cachers within a well known group of cachers who cache regularly around the Kinzua Dam area. This Rooster sorta, kinda, runs, or is frequently the entertainment for the clan. She is also very active in promoting geocaching through geomeets and the Clearfield County Geotrail in her own home area.

So Geobeerer and the unofficial head of the clan Mr. Kcepenn thought we should honor our Jester, I mean Rooster, with a geotrail of her own for all the great entertainment she has provided us (the clan) over the last couple of years.

So, welcome to the Rooster Laid a Golden Egg Geotrail- RLAGE. Rooster is so kind, she laid a golden egg for everyone in the clan and for everyone else to share in the fun. This trail is an old railroad grade in the hometown of two members of the clan-Festus and Toad, as they were affectionately known in their younger days before their geocaching handles gained more prominence. It actually starts at the edge of their old neighborhood where they grew up in Coudersport. Now these good buddies used this trail a lot to camp out, ride snowmobiles, dirt bike, and may have or may not have consumed a few “ Nectar of the Gods” beverages before they were eligible. (Rumor has it)

OK, now that you know the reason for the trail and about the trail, let’s get to the what you are looking for part.

You are looking for 11 micro caches that each contain a part of the coordinates for the final egg needed to fill that last spot in your carton of a dozen eggs. OH NO!!! NOT Micros IN The Woods!! OH YEAH!!!! But these micros should not be too difficult to find when you know the rules. They will not be in plain sight, but are very cacheable!! All the caches will be within 10-15 feet of the center of the trail and placed at a prominent feature along the trail such as a rock, a tree, or a fallen log. You are looking for a cackle-fruit, hidden just well enough to not be found by Muggles. In general, you should not have to leave the trail to find the caches. There is no need to destroy, dig, rip, tear up, or break anything to find these caches.

For the most part, the trail is a nice, but shady walk in the woods under a good tree canopy. Due to the well shaded trail, some of the coordinates may be a little tough, but if you use your geo-sense and the helpful clues provided for each one, you should be able to do the entire series without a problem. The entire geotrail covers just over a one mile hike (one way) on mostly level ground. The trail surface is good with just a few wet spots or puddles here and there that you can easily walk around or step over. It is accessible for walking or biking only, but no motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail. Parking is available at each end of the trail and it doesn’t matter which end you start from. See parking waypoints at either end of the trail and take your pick.

Each of the eleven geotrail caches contains its own log and one piece of the puzzle cache coordinates. Bring your own pencil to sign the log and tweezers might be very helpful on this trip. When you find all eleven RLAGE caches, you will have accumulated all the digits you need to solve the 12th and Final Rooster Laid A Golden Egg Cache!

Permission for the placement of this dozen eggs has been granted from the property owners, but please respect all property you come across in your search. Each cache is available year around, but may not be winter friendly if there is snow cover on the ground. Tweezers are highly recommended for this series and please bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log.
