Geocache Description:

The Slieve Felim region is an area between Limerick City, Nenagh, Thurles, and Tipperary – and so called because it is dominated by the Slieve Felim Mountains. It is a place of quiet beauty and natural rural charm.

Start from the village of Murroe on the R506 between Limerick City and Cappamore. With the church on your left take the road to the left (following the signs for Thomond Scout Centre and not those for Glenstal Abbey). Follow this road for approximately 2km and turn left following the signs for the Slieve Felim Way. After 5km you reach the trailhead located at a barrier entrance to Glenstal Woods.

This loop gives fine views into north Co Limerick and South Tipperary and of Keeper Hill to the north. You do not have to walk the whole loop for this cache as the loop stretches almost 36km from Murroe in County Limerick to Silvermines Village in County Tipperary. Parts of natural woodland where in Summer the rhododendron bushes are spectacular, this cache is about 1km from the parking area, so can be done as a 2km round trip. The walk is on a well maintained chipping path which gently ascends and decends as it weaves its way through this peaceful woodland. The cache is a standard snapbox which has a log book, pen and plenty of swag to start with including a few Wassy's for the first few to find.  A Wassy is a clay head of my own design and well collectable.
