Geocache Description:

Exeter Canal Basin is the terminus of the Exeter Ship Canal, one of the oldest artificial waterways in the UK. Competition between Exeter and nearby Topsham for cargoes and water to power mills along the River Exe lead to the construction of the canal in the 1560s. This multicache takes you to places around the canal basin where you pick up clues to the location of the final cache.

Pay and display parking is available at the given waypoint but why not leave your car at home and use public transport? The Green Park and Ride stops nearby and Exeter St Thomas station is only 10 minutes walk.

Take a walk anticlockwise around the Canal Basin following the waypoints and find the following information on your way:
(1) Which building does the Exe Water Sports Association inhabit? (The answer gives you AB)
(2) Which national cycle network route passes through here? (The answer gives you CD)
(3) Leonard Lawrence Squire 16-9-EF to 1-9-GH is remembered here.
(4) In which century was Isabella Countess of Devon? (The answer gives you JK)
(5) When was the Piazza Terracina opened? (The answer gives you 19LM)

Use this information to give you the coordinates of the final cache which is hidden at:
N 50 DB.(L+G)(E+H)(E+F)
W 003 CJ.(J+M)(A+G)(F+G)
The walk to the cache container is on paved pathways but a wheelchair bound cacher may need assistance to retrieve it. The cache has been placed with permission from the landowner.
