Geocache Description:

The Game of Life is a board game that simulates a persons travels through his or her life, from college to retirement, with jobs, marriage, and possible children along the way.

This wherigo is sort of a simpler real-world version of the board game.

You start at the hospital, and as you pass through school, various new locations are unlocked. After high school, you can choose your own path - build your own life.
Finishing school, getting a job, all these things can give you life points. Once you have gained 1000 life points, the wherigo will give you the coordinates for the Geocache. There are also heaps of hidden zones that can activate! Hidden zones can add, or take away from your life points.

Hopefully you enjoy this wherigo as much as I enjoyed building it! (Seriously, I had great fun testing it out in the field! ) And write about how you chose your life in your log! Did you go to Uni out of high school, or did you get a job? Maybe you went on the dole? Did you travel? Just avoid specific locations and don’t go into that much detail that it would give away the game!

You can download the wherigo here.

Tips:
  1. Hidden zones are located within the area of the visible zones. Explore your neighbourhood, and see what you can find!
  2. Every life is different. The choice is all yours. Want to travel before University? Want to get a job and have a kid? It’s up to you! The point is to get enough life points, the order in which you do things, and what you do is up to you. You are only limited by the zones you have currently activated.
  3. Some zones are quite far apart, hence a car or a bike could come in use. You may have to park and get out to activate the zone.
  4. Some of the hidden zones only activate after you have fulfilled a prior action.
  5. Finished playing and have the coords? Why not re-set your game, and try live your life out another way! Or you can continue your current life! You don't have to stop just because you have unlocked the coords.

I have tested the wherigo out on Garmin Oregon(s), as well as on the iPhone app. On the phone, it runs better, and let's you view your current life point score when you click on tasks, however it doesn't display the pictures. My Oregon occasionally crashed, but on the other Oregon it worked fine the whole time - I guess it depends how much other stuff you have on it.

And thanks where they are due:
Stegan for answering my questions about wherigo creation
La Vista for the use of their GPS for testing
My flatmates for putting up with my late night sitting in the lounge and yelling and jumping around whenever something worked
KommandantHVS for coming out and testing this with me at ridiculous hours of the night
