Potts Corners, Dorchied Farm Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

I can't fly my pigeons can: It is gone, and the spot is too prone to flooding events to make me feel confident that a replacement would stay put.

Geocache Description:

Potts Corners was a close knit hamlet with a store, church, auto repair and school. Take a walk along Ma and Pa's Trail, named for Carol and Harold Dorchied, who were  known as Ma and Pa to grandkids, nieces and nephews of the neighborhood.

The Potts Corners neighborhood was a community drawn together by generations of farmers, tied together by family relationships and deep friendship. Troubles in one family were eased by all when illness, accident or flooding occurred. When the landowners were forced to sell, and then the dam project was halted, the families continued to meet to picnic and walk the hills and valleys of their former homes. Sunday picnics and family reunions still take place, and near this cache you will find a favorite gathering place. Permission to place this cache was given by the Kickapoo Valley Reserve, where a copy of the Geocache Placement Notification Form is on file.
