The cache is easily accessible directly from Route 29, near Federal Twist Road. Be careful where you park....you could be ticketed. The cache got it’s name from interesting historical "structure" located nearby. I'm not sure of the origin of the rocky dike. (NOTE: I'm now told that this was for an old railroad spur that used to go to a quarry that operated in this area.) This cache was placed to replace the original Rocky Road cache. I archived that cache since it was located within an area that has recently been designated as an endangered species area.
Since it would be unaccessible for 7 months of the year, I put out this one which is outside the protected area. You can park on the wide south-bound shoulder of Route 29 for this cache. It’s a short walk along the hiking trail to the cache. Use stealth in looking for the cache as this area is very popular with hikers and bikers, especially when the weather is nice.
The cache is another in the series to extend the line of caches located along the D & R Canal State Park hiking trail which follows the abandoned railroad tracks. I hope you enjoy your travels along the D & R Canal. Views of the Delaware River are available all along the way. Good hunting!
