Yosemite Sam is the loudest, rowdiest, shootin’ist cartoon character to ever show on the silver screen. Sam, created by writer Michael Maltese, first appeared in the cartoon Hare Trigger in 1945. The cartoon was directed by Friz Freleng and released by Warner Brothers Studios. The short-short-fused, bombastic little runt squared off against Bugs Bunny in over a dozen hilarious cartoons. Knightly-knight Bugs which co-starred Bugs and Sam won an Academy Award in 1958.

Yosemite Sam made one or two films a year until 1964. Freleng directed all of Sam’s pictures. Over the years, TV audiences (young and young in spirit) have enjoyed Yosemite Sam’s wild antics. He joined the mob of toon characters who appeared in the popular Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).

Two blasts of Yosemite's hoss pistol for TeamOxford's FTF. And for you trivia buffs out there, TeamOxford was FTF for the original Yosemite Sam cache.
