Geocache Description:

The Medieval and perhaps earlier town defences of Saffron Walden partly survive as earthworks known as the Repell Ditches. They comprise two now separate linear ditches with an internal bank which combine to form the south-western corner of a probable rectangular enclosure. Excavations nearby in 1972 suggest a palisade ditch surrounded the late Early Medieval town and excavations in 1959 showed a single phase of construction between circa 1250 and 1350. This area can be busy and is popular with Dog Walkers, there are houses nearby so stealth maybe required. You are looking for a small clip n lock box, with some swaps.  I have placed a pencil and pen inside, please do not remove from the cache.  This cache is close to Audley End Park, which is a lovely area to go for a walk. There are also other caches nearby, so it could be incorporated into a nice loop around the lovely town of Saffron Walden.  This is our very first cache, so we would love to read yours logs!
