Basket Range 5: Thars Love In Them Thar Hills Traditional Cache

The fifth cache in the Basket Range series.
A quick driveby cache, with a lovely view and nice story to go along with it.

So the story goes... when Basket Range was first being settled by loggers, fruit growers and their families. One of these loggers, a very romantic fellow, decided to show his love for his partner and came up with a unique way to propose to her. With forward planning and help from his fellow loggers, he cleared a section of scrub and gumtrees on the face of one of the hills easily seen from Basket Range. He cleared this land in the shape of a love heart when viewed from a particular ridge and then planted it full of established cherry trees. The following spring when the cherry trees were in full blossom with bright pink and white flowers the true genius of his plan was visible with a bright pink heart set amongst a sea of gumtrees. It was at this point he took his partner to this particular ridge top and with the love heart as a backdrop he proposed to her...she said yes...or so the story goes :).

As far as my research can devulge, the geocache is located on that very ridgetop where he proposed, the love heart is quite visible as a cleared spot of land with no gum trees or scrub, across the valley in a NW direction, unfortunately most of the cherry trees have since died, there only remain a small cluster in the very middle.

The Geocache is just off the road, a nice driveby, but of course in a Megatricky hide. Its a good size container with room for plenty of swappables etc. Please enure you leave as you found or in a manner which best disguises it.
