Geocache Description:

The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

The first burial at this cemetery took place in 1913, which by my usual self-imposed criterion that at least one interment should date to the 1800s would make this site ineligible for the TSQ series. However, the place is a century old, so I am inclined to be lenient here. There are 30 graves to be found at this location (with the most recent having taken place in 2011), mostly Pattersons, with a smattering of Rileys (who give their family name to the alternate moniker for this cemetery), including one who evidently married into the Dittmar clan (who have their OWN cemetery down on Old Bee Cave Road).

The site is fenced and gated, but you do not need to enter the cemetery to make the find. Roadside parking is adequate. There is a school nearby, so don't loiter about on weekday. As always, coordinate corrections are welcomed.
