Geocache Description:

This is the Sixth cache in my Basket Range series highlighting the bits and pieces of interest and history of Basket Range.

Basket Range Cricket Club is one of the oldest clubs in the region. Basket Range Cricket Club was formed in 1892 and the oval overlooks the wide sweeping hills views of the area. Its definitely 6 and out with this cricket oval at the far end. The oval is beautifully looked after with awesome views and has served as a great location for weddings and parties.

The large dead gum tree at the far end of the oval died several years ago after being hit by lightning. The lightning strike occurred during one of the clubs training sessions, the players in the nets at the opposite end of the oval to the tree, received electrical burns to their hands where they were holding onto the metal wire fencing of the cricket nets!

Without being caught up in the weather that can get pretty wild along the top of this ridge, the cache is located just off the road on the edge of the carpark. It is a small Sistema container, with plenty of space for swappables etc.
