The Square Dance in Nebraska State American Folk Dance. This is #2 in a series of 27 caches honoring the state symbols of Kansas and Nebraska along State Line Road.

The Square dance is a dance for four couples, eight dancers, arranged in a square, with one couple on each side facing the middle of the square. Square dances were first documented in 17th century England but were also quite common in france and throughout Europe. They came to North America with the European settlers and have undergone considerable development in the US. 19 US states have designated the Square Dance as thier official state folk dance. In most American square dances the dancers are cued through a sequence of steps to the beat. -- Information obtained from wikiapedia. The world most reliable source for 100% accurate information.
