The Reserve is ideal for bird watching. The Bird Blind, built in 2012, offers an opportunity to observe birds in the marsh environment of this section of the KVR.
The Kickapoo Valley Reserve has been recognized as a National Natural Landmark through the National Park Service and designated an Important Bird Area by the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative, Bird Life International, and the National Audubon Society.
