Little Critters - Fly Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Kris&Co: I have become very disappointed with this series, due to all of the customs and replacements constantly disappearing. It also seems that new developments are taking the footpaths. Thank you to those that have found

Geocache Description:

UK Mega Essex 2015

This is part of a circular trail of 15 caches and a puzzle bonus. Please try to put them back how and where you found them, for the next person to enjoy. All the actual caches are micro/nano size, apart from the bonus which is a medium size container and can hold swaps and TBs. Please bring a pen/pencil to sign logs. Tweezers will also be very helpful.

The Fly

There are over 300,000 species of flies. Most of us have dealt with the common house fly they are annoying to say the least. When they get in your house, it's worse to deal with at least they don't bite you. Next time one of those little things gets on you or your food, you're likely to remember a few of these interesting facts. The average house fly lives about 30 days, they lay up to 3,000 eggs in their lifetime of one month. If you're waiting for that fly in your house to die in a month, you have bigger problems in about 14 after the eggs are laid, you'll have up to 3,000 flies. Better hope it's a male that's trapped in your house! Flies only have 2 wings, most insects have 4, their wings beat up to 200 times per second and they stop immediately when their feet land. Flies have over 4,000 lenses per eye (they only have 2 eyes) but can't see a thing! Their vision may be bad but they detect movement, if you want to swat one of them, you better start out slow, they're likely to ignore you if you're not fast. When initiating take off, they jump up then backwards before moving forward. They can only consume liquids and vomit on food in order to eat it, as the vomit is a tool to liquefy the food. Their saliva turns the rest into complete liquid before they swallow it. They have a glue like substance on the pads of their feet that help them stick to surfaces, they also taste with their feet which are 10 million times more sensitive to sugar than the tongue. A fly’s tongue is shaped like a straw enabling them to suck up their food. They also lay their eggs on food, and like most insects they too go through the four stages of development egg, larva, pupa and adult. It takes about ten days for them to develop fully.

Hopefully the co-ords are ok, there is a bit of tree cover, so may be off slightly.
