Жила-была девочка по имени Василиса. Когда она была ещё маленькой, у неё умерла мать, но незадолго до того, она благословила Василису и подарила куколку. После смерти матери отец женился на другой женщине и так у Василисы появилась мачеха и две сводные сестры. Мачеха и сёстры были злые и заставляли Василису делать все дела по дому и обращались с ней как со своей служанкой. Они посылали её в Дремучий Лес в надежде, что её съест Баба-Яга, но Василиса всегда возвращалась. Однажды она всё равно попала к Бабе-Яге, но уговорила колдунью не есть её, а позволить приготовить ужин и помочь по дому. Но чего не знала ни Баба-Яга, ни мачеха с сестрами, так этого того, что Василисина куколка была волшебной. Если дать ей немного еды, то она помогала, поэтому Василиса и справлялась со всеми делами дома и в избушке Бабы-Яги. Когда Баба-Яга узнала об этом, то выгнала благословлённую Василису со её куколкой из своего дома, дала её один из черепов с забора вокруг избушки, чтобы Василиса освещала себе путь, и отпустила её...

Fairytale about Vasilisa the Beautiful (or Vasilisa the Wise)
Once upon a time there was a girl named Vasilisa. Her mother died when she was little, but just before that she blessed Vasilisa and gave her a little doll as a gift. After Vasilisa's mother's death, her father married another woman, so Vasilisa got both a stepmother and two stepsisters. Stepmother and stepsisters were cruel to Vasilisa and forced her to do all the household duties and treated her as their servant. They sent her to The Dark Forest where Baba-Yaga lived with the hope that the witch would eat her up, but Vasilisa did always get away. One time she got with Baba-Jaga anyway but persuaded the witch not to eat her up, but let her cook and help in the home. What neither Baba-Jaga or Vasilisa's stepmother and stepsisters knew was that the doll she got from her mother was a magical one. If you give the doll a bit of food the doll helped one and it was the reason why Vasilisa managed to do all tasks she got at home and of Baba-Yaga. When Baba-Yaga found that out she did not want to have blessed Vasilisa and the magic doll in her home, so she gave her one of the skulls with glowing eyes from the fence to light the way and let her go...
