This is part of a series of caches that are placed near various points of interest along the Sheyenne River Valley Scenic Byway.
Kathryn was established in 1900 and has a population of 52 according to the 2010 census. The town was named after a railroad executive's daughter and is part of a series of stops called "The Ladies Line".
