Master Sgt. Gregory R. Trent, 38, of Norton, died Aug. 8 in Bethesda, Md., from wounds suffered July 31 in Baktabad, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire.
A 1992 graduate of Norton High School, Trent was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, parents and brother.
He was assigned to Company B, 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C., and was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. This was Master Sgt. Trent's fifth deployment in support of Overseas Contingency Operations.
