Le musée mémorial de la bataille de Normandie présente un historique complet de la bataille de Normandie du 7 juin au 29 août 1944. Il présente une collection basée surtout sur une exposition d'objets et documents tirés de cette époque. Non loin de là, vous pouvez témoigner votre respect aux soldats britanniques tombés pour la libération de la France et de l'Europe, qui reposent au cimetière britannique de Bayeux. Et encore plus près, le mémorial des reporters vous permet d'avoir une pensée pour tous les reporters morts pour que nous ayons accès à l'information. Le mémorial des reporters est aussi une occasion de vous essayer à la cache située en son sein : [GC1Y2D9] Mémorial des reporters.
The Battle of Normandy lasted from June 7 to August 29, 1944. In the museum, you can see an exhibition of objects and documents from that time. Not far away, in the British cemetery, you can show your respect to British and Commonwealth soldiers killed during the liberation of France and mainland Europe. And even closer, the Reporters Memorial is a very quiet place to think about all reporters having been killed to provide us information throughout the world. The Reporters Memorial is also an opportunity to try to find the cache located therein: [GC1Y2D9] Mémorial des reporters.
La cache / The cache
Avant de pouvoir accéder à la cache, vous allez devoir observer de plus près les magnifiques tanks exposés devant le musée. Quand vous aurez répondu aux questions et trouvé les chiffres correspondants, vous pourrez foncer trouver la cache !
Before you can access the cache, you'll have to look closely to the beautiful tanks set in the front of the museum. After having answered some questions and found the right numbers, you'll be able to rush to the cache !
WP1 : Churchill & M10
À ce waypoint, vous pouvez voir deux tanks alliés : le char britannique Churchill (à gauche sur la photo) et le char américain M10 (à droite sur la photo). Pour chacun de ces chars, vous devez trouver deux chiffres : B et C pour le char Churchill, A et D pour le char M10.
La char Churchill, nommé bien entendu en l'honneur du premier ministre britannique, a surtout servi (comme lui) durant la seconde guerre mondiale. Doté d'un solide blindage (comme lui), c'est un char d'infanterie (destiné donc au soutien des troupes d'infanterie). Il a servi jusqu'en 1952 et a donné naissance à de nombreux dérivés.
Pour trouver la valeur B : le char exposé ici est un dérivé du char Churchill de base, nommé d'après un animal dangereux. Comptez le nombre de lettres de cet animal.
Pour trouver la valeur C : de chaque côté du tank est présent ce code d'identification : "T1732_837". Trouvez le chiffre manquant.
La char américain M10 (à droite sur la photo) est un chasseur de char construit à partir de 1942 et créé pour pallier la faiblesse du tank Sherman dans la lutte antichar, le sherman étant plus un char de soutien. Livré aux britanniques, ce char prit le nom d'Achilles et est des fois appelé Wolverine.
Pour trouver la valeur A : quel est, en pouces (inches), le calibre du canon du char ?
Pour trouver la valeur D : sur le char exposé, à l'avant et à l'arrière, se trouve un code de la forme "V_02TD". Trouvez le chiffre manquant.
At this waypoint, you can see two allied forces tanks : the british Churchill tank (left on the picture) and the american M10 tank (right on the picture). For each tank, you'll have to find two values : B and C for the Churchill, A and D for the M10.
The Churchill tank, named after the british prime minister, has served during WW2 (like him), as an infantry tank (troop support) . Heavily armored (like him), he served until 1952 and was used as the basis for many specialist vehicules.
Finding B value : the tank you see is indeed a specialist named after an animal. Count the letters of its name (english name is fine, same as in french).
Finding C value : each side of the tank is written an ID code : "T1732_837". Fill in the blank.
The american M10 tank is a tank destroyer, created to get more anti-tank power than the Sherman could provide. It was christened Wolverine by British forces.
Finding A value : what is, in inches, the caliber of its gun ?
Finding D value : on front and rear of the tank a code is written : "V_02TD". Find the missing number.
WP2 : Sherman M4A1
Le char d'infanterie Sherman M4 est le char américain le plus produit pendant la seconde guerre mondiale (environ 50000 exemplaires). Son nom lui est attribué par les britanniques suivant la tradition de nommer les chars d'après un général nordiste de la guerre de Sécession. L'US Army a adopté par la suite ce nom.
Pour trouver la valeur E : de chaque côté du char se trouve un code de la forme "USA 322210_5". Trouvez le chiffre manquant.
Pour trouver la valeur F : sur l'avant et l'arrière de ce char se trouve un code d'une lettre et un nombre, de la forme "_11". Trouvez la lettre manquante et calculez son rang dans l'alphabet.
The Sherman M4 infantry tank was the primary tank used by the United States during WW2. About 50000 of them were built. The M4 was named after Union General Sherman, following the British practice of naming American-built tanks after famous American Civil War generals.
Finding E : on each side of the tank is written a code "USA 322210_5". Fill in the blank.
