“X” ALMOST MARKS THE SPOT
This site is “physically” very easy, which it had to be for us old folks and short legged dogs to have stashed it, and you can drive to within about 200 feet of it. However, to find this site, a bit more thought will be needed. Depending on the capabilities of your GPS unit, you may consider bringing a compass that is reasonably accurate.
If you do the calculations correctly, this site is easy and you will find a 5 gal plastic bucket covered by a pile of rocks, located in an area of very few rocks. Inside the cache, along with the usual goodies including a travel bug, are the coordinates used as a starting point for my second site "JUNK".
1st coordinates:
N35.58.315 / W114.54.764 (WGS 64)
2ND Coordinates:
N35.55.188 / W114.55.015
3rd Coordinates:
Will need to be calculated.
In order to make finding this site as safe as possible, please enter the first 2 (two) sets of coordinates into your GPS before you start. The traffic on the roads can be dangerous at times so due care must be taken.
OK…..here we go!
From anywhere in Las Vegas, find your way to the US93/US95 to Hoover Dam. On your way to the Dam, you will pass the 1st set of coordinates which is a casino. Carefully note the name of the casino. At this point you do not need write anything down….just remember the name. You will need it a little later. Continue toward the Dam, and take the exit to Searchlight. Now you are heading Southish toward Searchlight and the second set of coordinates. Upon reaching the second set of coordinates, you will see a left hand turn (paved for a very short distance) turning into a dirt road. Turn left and stop once you are on the dirt road. This is a safe place to do the calculations for the 3rd set of coordinates.
Latitude:
Note the number of letters in the name of the casino you passed at the first set of coordinates, including spaces AND the word “casino” but NOT the word "hotel". Add that number to 3163. Take this new number and subtract it from the Latitude of the “Casino”. The result will be the latitude of the “X” that almost marks the spot.
Longitude:
Take the same number of letters and spaces in the name of the casino and multiply it by 8 (eight), then add 1 (one). Add this number to the Longitude of the “casino”. This is the Longitude of the “X” that almost marks the spot.
Continue straight ahead on the dirt road to the “X”. The site is located 72 degrees approximately 230 feet from the center of the “X”.
Located on the inside of the lid of the container are the ACTUAL co-ordinates (according to my GPS). These are the co-ordinates I used as a starting point for my next site "JUNK" that almost marks the spot. If you found this one, I suggest you try "JUNK". It could be very rewarding.
