As you probably know, Beaver Lake is one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the country, featuring nearly 500 miles of shoreline. The dam was constructed in the 60s, expanding the White River, flooding the surrounding valleys, and swallowing the towns and homesteads that resided there. If you look carefully enough, however, you can find evidence of these lost dwellings within the boundaries of the lake.
This island is said to have been a goat pasture prior to the creation of the lake in the 60s, so some locals refer to it as Goat Island.
