Hi!
The New Jersey State Park Service has recently implemented a new policy regarding Geocaching and other GPS-based recreational activities. The goal is to establish guidelines to minimize the impact on the natural, historic, and cultural resources managed by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry, State Park Service, while providing safe opportunities for those who wish to hide or seek caches throughout State Park Service lands.
This account is administered by the staff of Ringwood State Park, and deals specifically with Ringwood State Park itself, as well as Long Pond Ironworks State Park, Ramapo Mountain State Forest, Norvin Green State Forest, Troy Meadows Natural Area and Farny State Park, as well as The Hermitage and Steuben House historic sites.
If you’ve received a message from us, it is because we believe that you are the owner of the following cache(s) located on park property:
GC4FM8Z - 17 Tree Frog Lane
GC3KQW9 - Rolly Polly
GC4FM89 - Zig Zag Zoom
GC4FM85 - 0 Cookies For U
GC3KQ25 - Bucktooth Beaver
[Please bear with me as I’m going through caches by park, then by geographic sections. I’m trying to consolidate, but if you have caches in a number of areas, you might get numerous messages.]
We are in the process of identifying existing caches, and asking owners to complete the Geocaching Identification Form, which will provide us the necessary information to evaluate the cache’s location and potential impact, and allow us to make a final decision.
Please note that applications for new caches will not be approved until all existing caches have been evaluated.
The full State Park Service Policy, along with the Geocaching Identification Form, can be found at: http://njparksandforests.com/parks/docs/geocaching_policy_2_37_final_form.pdf
Completed forms for the parks listed above can be emailed to rspvsa@verizon.net or
