Geocache Description:

General Info

Let me first give many thanks to the Darley Parish Council for reviewing and approving my request to place caches along this route.  Hopefully there will be more to come.

There is plenty of parking along Main Street; I just ask that you are careful not to block any garden gates and driveways.

Part of the Historical Trails walks around the peaceful village of Darley, this public footpath travels along the River Nidd.  This was one of the first walks our family did when we moved to this lovely and serene village.

Warnings

The walk can be very muddy after the rain.  And some spots just remain so due to springs and run off into the river.

Be sure to keep your dogs under strict control as sheep and cows do roam the fields.  And some of the gates do have latches that need to be secured once you pass through them.

And be wary of Muggles as this path can be very busy on a sunny day.

Cache Site Info

Once over the footbridge and to the right (N 54° 01.987 W 001° 40.659) you will find one of the boundary marker stones for the King’s Forest of Knaresborough which was recently excavated.  I recommend after crossing the bridge that you go down to the stream side where you will find a rusty gate.  Just follow your compass arrow from behind the gate.  It saves trekking through the foliage on the field side and avoiding a good amount of nettles during the summertime.

I decided to place the cache at a nearby location for this reason and not to disturb the stone’s area too much.

Cache Box

The container is a 1.5L polypropylene clip box in a camouflaged bag.  Contents are a log book, a pen (always bring your own), and some swag for swapping.  And room for some trackables.

Congratulations to FOX 661L who got FTF bragging rights!
