This cache is located along the wonderful Bayfield beach. The host will be immediately obvious. Getting it may take a bit of work, however.
Cache is located ~0.1 miles offshore. It is in an old derelict barge that was towed here in the early 1970s. A nearby property owner hoped to sink it just offshore of his propery to serve as a wave break to help reduce beach/bluff erosion. Unfortunately for him, complications arose and the barge hit the bottom and broke into pieces.
His misfortune was luck to hundreds of fisherman and adventurous teenagers and 40-somethings that don't want to admit that they are no longer children. A somewhat challenging climb up the barge side places you perched above the lake with a nice view. Many sit a while and catch their breath before yelling "Geronimo" and taking the leap.
This is the summer version of the story. Bayfield is a MUCH different place in the summer than winter. The cache may be much easier to reach in the winter, when the lake freezes. Of course, that same ice may make the cache inaccessible - locking the cache in an icy crypt. Likewise, in summer if the water is rough, you may want to wait for another time.
Cache is not large enough to hold much, but is starting with a TB. Depending on what is attached, you may be able to place one. BYOP.
This is my second cache. The first was an experiment placed in Texas, so I have quite a range! I have struggled somewhat in assigning the rating. Please provide feedback on what you think, and I may adjust. Also let me know how it is handling the elements - I may have to make modifications to the container and mounting. Please return cache as found. Have Fun! Be Safe!
