Drive to the end of the road and the parking area. At busy times parking extends back down the road. You can obviously go either way around the circuit, but our preference is anti-clockwise. Follow the obvious path around by the wall, or if the reservoir is low you can cut the corner, although you do have to cross Mardale Beck. The paths are generally good, and as you reach The Rigg the views down the valley open up. HH5-2 is at the turn off for the ridge, and easily incorporated into this route.
Now the ascent begins in earnest as the end of Riggindale rises quite steeply to start. The views become brilliant as the height increases, however, and the path is easily followed up or alongside the various knolls. Riggindale is a marvellous ridge route and well worth the climb. This cache should be fairly easy to find, please ensure the top is on well and it is rehidden carefully.
