A Little Locked Up Problem Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

defamily: [:(] [:(][:(]

This one has had a nice run but we have decided that it might not be worth replacing (Frog Lady's photo proved the cache wasn't there).

Our logic for archiving it is that our cache container budget it limited and that we might as well spend it one a cache which can be found by everyone in the caching community.

We are hoping to release some more home-made caching containers on some caches in the future as we haven't done any since our Torquay By Night- Multi Cache.

Sorry to all those who have DNFed on this cache and those that wished to find it.

Thanks to Suscoe and Phetlern for favouriting it.

Geocache Description:

A Little Locked Up Problem is an unusual puzzle cache because the co-ordinates lead you to the right place but there are several steps that must be taken to open the cache. The clues listed below will allow you to open a bike lock- which is one of the steps. The cache is located in Bob Pettit Reserve.

The Park and the Person

Bob Pettit reserve is a good sized park with a playground, several gardens, an oval, a sheltered area, a small skate park, a BBQ area and a basketball court. It is named after Bob Pettit who was a farmer and local councillor for the Jan Juc area. The reserve used to be part of his farming land. When he gave it up to become a park they named it in his honour.

The Cache Itself

Finding the actual cache container won’t be too hard. It is a white PVC pipe with little camouflage (although I might update this is people find it too easy- please mention your opinion in your log). Once you reach the cache you must do several things to open it. One of these involves a bike lock. The code for this lock can be gained from the clues below (two of the clues can be worked out before the trip- the other two must be on site). The cache contains a few sections. One of these holds the log book and pencil (although the latter may fall so look where the trades are if there is no pencil in sight. To access the trades turn the pipe upside down. Please only small trades; don’t stuff the pipe with things that are too thick- if it doesn’t fit easily don’t put it in. Geocoins and small travel bugs should fit. There is no specific FTF prize but they can just take a trade without putting anything in. (1 per user if there is a joint FTF)

ORIGINAL CONTENTS: GOLF BALL, JOEY TB, CRAZY RABBIT, 2 BLUE STONES, ORANGE CAT, ORANGE MAN AND GREEN MAN.

Please note that as of the 12/9/13 there is no more trades inside the cache as they were all stolen by muggles. Please feel free to leave trades or trackables in the bottom of the tube. Thanks to the pacman for letting me know of this issue and for assembling the container

The Clues

The code for the lock is ABCD

A= The combined number of letters of the two words in the nearest town’s name.

B= The number of words in the name of the reserve (including reserve)

C= The number of holes on the bottom half of the tube divided by 2

D=  The number of holes in the lid (any size) also divided by 2

Extra Information

I will release this cache like several other cache owners have. For the first week only premium members (and charter members) can access it. After this period anyone can access it. If you want to be FTF it’s only 30 dollars a year to support such a great website.

Also the log MUST BE SIGNED. The main point of this cache is to get to the log so photos will not do. The cache only contains a pencil (no pen) which has started sharp but may not stay this way. I will sharpen it if needed but I can’t do this straight away. Please mention in your log if this needs to happen. People may like to bring their own pen and should if I haven’t posted a maintenance log after someone says there is a blunt pencil. The log is rather small so initials are fine as long as you mention how you signed your name in your log otherwise I might not know and delete your log which would be bad for everyone although I would contact you before doing this.

Also while you’re doing this cache I would highly recommend doing Juc_cacher’s cache Les Petites Gens Jouent Ici (GC26993) which is located in the same park.
