Homme de nature et de plein air, Jean-Marie appréciait particulièrement cet emplacement tant pour la beauté du paysage que la quiétude du lieu. La vue spectaculaire qu’offre ce belvédère sur la vallée de l’Anse-au-Griffon fut découverte lors d’une patrouille d’entretien de l’équipe des sentiers du parc. Un point d’observation privilégié pour observer les rapaces en migration qui fréquentent la vallée.
Il y a 10,000 ans, suite à la fin d’une glaciation affectant l’ensemble du Canada, une mer ancienne recouvrant l’ensemble de la vallée a alors laissé derrière elle, suite à son retrait, d’importants dépôts marins nivelant le fond de la vallée. Ces riches dépôts marins furent éventuellement propices à des activités d’agriculture. Depuis la création du parc, la végétation reprend tranquillement sa place sur ces anciennes terres agricoles.

Loving nature and the outdoors, Jean-Marie particularly enjoyed this location for the beauty of the landscape and the tranquility of the place.The spectacular view from the lookout over the valley of L'Anse-au-Griffon was discovered during a maintenance patrol from the team trails in the park. It makes an excellent viewpoint for observing raptors migration.
10,000 years ago, following the end of a glaciation affecting most of Canada, an ancient sea covered the whole valley then left behind after it’s retreat important marine deposits thus leveling the bottom of the valley. These rich marine deposits became eventually suitable to agricultural activities. Since the creation of the park vegetation has quietly taken it’s place on these former farmlands.
